The sugar line is total sugar. Most of it is the fruit juice itself. A light touch of organic cane sugar is the only sugar we add.

Turns out,
it's the congeners
Congeners are the leftovers from making alcohol. Your body has to process them along with the ethanol.
We source an organic neutral grain spirit that has very few congeners. Leave the leftovers behind.
All glow. No fog.

The long
version
Five essays from the Bulletin, for anyone who wants the whole argument and not just the can.
All essays- 01 · The category What is a Hardwater? Spring water, a neutral grain spirit and real juice, no bubbles. Why that is a new kind of drink and not a seltzer with the gas let out. Read it
- 02 · The alcohol What is neutral grain spirit? Distilled to about 96 percent, with almost no congeners left. How it differs from vodka and why the purity matters. Read it
- 03 · The next morning Congeners and hangovers Why some drinks hurt more than others, what a hangover actually is, and which drinks carry the least of it. Read it
- 04 · The decision The SunGod Whitepaper Why we took the carbonation out, and what still water changes about how a drink feels over a long afternoon. Read it
- 05 · The start The story of SunGod Why we started, the engineering-first way we work, and what we wanted in the cooler that was not there. Read it
01 What is Hardwater?
A new kind of alcoholic drink: spring water, a neutral grain spirit and real organic juice, with no carbonation. 5% alcohol by volume in a 12 oz can. Read: What is a Hardwater?
02 Is it a seltzer?
No. SunGod is somewhere between a canned cocktail and a spa water. Hardwater is still, no bubbles at all. Read: why we took the carbonation out
03 Where does the water come from?
A spring on a mountain in San Diego County, about 5,000 feet up. Most canned drinks use city water. We went to a mountain, and we wrote up why. Our water
04 Is it organic?
Yes. Every ingredient is certified organic, and the can carries the USDA Organic seal. No preservatives, no artificial flavors or sweeteners. See the full ingredient list
05 What are congeners?
The compounds that fermentation and aging leave behind in a drink, besides the alcohol itself. Darker, aged spirits carry more of them. We start with a neutral grain spirit, which carries very few, and use fruit for flavor. Read: congeners and hangovers
06 What is a neutral grain spirit?
Neutral grain spirit (NGS), also called grain neutral spirit (GNS), is a highly distilled alcohol made from grains, with minimal flavor and impurities and a smooth taste. At SunGod we use the highest quality neutral grain spirit we can find, made from organic German wheat, for a crisp, neutral base that lets our flavors shine. Read: what is neutral grain spirit?
07 Is SunGod gluten free?
Yes. Our alcohol is made from organic German wheat, and the distillation process removes the gluten proteins, which leaves a gluten-free spirit.
08 Do I need to shake it?
A gentle turn before you open it. It is real juice, so it settles a little in the can.
09 Where can I buy it?
At stores and bars across San Diego and Southern California, and online with shipping to the states that allow it. Type a city or zip into the store finder and we will point you to the closest one. Find a store
